29/01/2013 TREBLE

Newcastle have been ABSOLUTELY dire on the road this season with 5 draws being the only "high" points for their fans to cheer about. The 4 draws have come against Norwich, Liverpool, Sunderland, Reading and Everton. While their defeats read Chelsea, Southampton, Stoke, Fulham, Man Utd, Arsenal (That one was a 7-3 defeat). They have also exited both domestic cup competitions away from home (to Man United in the Capital One and to Brighton in the FA Cup). Aston Villa on the other hand have only won 2 matches at home all season (against Swansea and Reading). They have also failed to score in their last 4 home premier league matches. 3 losses and 1 draw, with a goal diff of -8 in those 4 games. Villa did however manage to grab a draw at St. James Park back in September (and that was when Newcastle had Demba Ba's firepower) so i reckon Villa may just have what it takes to see off the Magpies at Villa Park, with Boyles offering 17/10 on the home win.

Stoke City have been enjoying a marvellous run of form at home in the Premier League this season and remained unbeaten at home until losing to a disastrous performance from John Walters against Chelsea. They have since lost in the FA CUP to City but that game was only 1-0 and the Citizens had to wait until the 85th minute to break down a resilient Stoke defence. They have been great at home beating Liverpool 3-1 on Dec 26th after falling behind in the 2nd minute and also managing a draw against City in the league back in September. Stoke are 21/20 with Boyles to see off Wigan who have had a very indifferent season on the road with 3 wins, 7 losses and 1 draw. And they scraped into the FA CUP 5th round after a 1-0 win at League 1 Bournmouth in the 3rd Round and a 1-0 4th round replay win at Conference side Macclesfield after the non league side managed a draw at the DW. So I see stoke taking this game.

Watford are pushing for automatic promotion in the Championship and after 28 games they are only 1 point of the all important second place. A win tonight will put them in the automatic promotion places until Thursday at least when Leicester play Wolves. Tonight Bristol City welcome Watford to Ashton Gate and are rooted firmly to the bottom of the championship 7 points from safety. This should be an easy away win and Boyles price it up at Even money.
